Plans to open a company via API?

Sorry - couldnt find anything about it, buti wonder if it’s possible in the future to register a new company via API?
I read estonia is planning it and the current process involves filling out online forms - so in a way it’s already digital.
Would be awesome to use an API for that :smile:

Btw. if it’s already possible, I apologize and would be happy to be pointed at some reading materials, thx.

We do plan to develop, over the coming months, incorporation functionality through the API alongside all other changes that can be made to a company. Will keep you posted on the forum with regards to these plans. We do have other services which allow company registration online: -

  1. Our incorporation service: https://www.gov.uk/register-a-company-online
  2. Our XML gateway service: Software Filing

It should be noted that we will be deprecating our XML gateway service at some point in the future once the functionality is made available through the new API.

Hi there, I found this thread while searching for info on Online Incorporation via API. On your Developer Hub I can only find info on Searches via API. But I can see there are various third party websites offering the online incorporation service (with direct submission to Companies House). Can you confirm whether the online incorporation API is widely available? And how I can go about accessing it?. Many thanks.

No, the this API does not have the incorporation functionality available yet.
The services that other companies use is our older XML gateway service.

Is there a timeline when the new API will be available?

Will the XML gateway continue to exist if one decides to use it instead of maybe the new API that is currently being developed?

Will they have the same features? (If not - what’s the difference?)
