Issue with OAuth Web Server Flow - 'Sorry, there is a problem with the service'

We have successfully created an application with Companies House and generated a Web key to access the APIs.
However, when initiating the OAuth web server flow using our Client ID, we are encountering the following error: “Sorry, there is a problem with the service.”

We have reviewed similar issues discussed in the forum (URGENT - Not able to connect to the API ), but unfortunately, we have not been able to resolve the issue.

Below is the requested user authorization URL for your reference:

Could you please assist us in troubleshooting this issue?

Thank you for your help.

Hi, I have logged this issue with our IT team. I will let you know once I receive a response.

Thank you,

After calling the OAuth2 endpoint in the sandbox environment, I was redirected to the Companies House sign-in page. Since I didn’t have an account initially, I created one using GOV.UK One Login.

URL : ‘Sign in to Companies House - Companies House - GOV.UK’.

However, when I tried to sign in, I encountered the following error:

Error: There is no Companies House account that uses this email address.

Could you please look into this and advise on how to resolve the issue?

Best regards,
Prashant

Hi Prashant,

Just wanted to check if you have a breakthrough on this since we are facing the same issue(in LIVE and not sandbox) since March 2025. Your help is much appreciated.

I’m facing the same issue, has there been any movement on this?

No @ChrisL we are also waiting for their response

This is puzzling as this service is being used by thousands of users daily, all of which have authenticated successfully, we certainly know of no current issues with this platform. Unfortunately, as this is a free to develop, free to use, free to obtain data / images / streams from, our digital teams support is generally limited to issues at our end. As the vast majority of customers are using this platform successfully, there does not appear to be an issue here.

Apologies

@snicholas Thanks for your reply.

Existing (old from 2021) OAuth 2.0 connection is working fine but we are not able to create any new connection. Were there any changes done on OAuth 2.0 front?

Now, is it recommended to use Rest API Key for authentication?
