Data availability, Incorporations and Filing

Hi,

I am very excited by the development of the new Companies House API but have some questions about the current data and functions available. Right now it looks like there is only limited data available regarding simple company searches? What we are currently looking for is a way to integrate our existing software through the API to conduct the following type of functions:

  1. Retrieve shareholding information for existing companies
  2. Incorporate new companies
  3. Conduct filing of activities such as addition/removal of directors, transfer/allocation of shares and passing of other resolutions

Can someone please advise if any of the above is currently available and if not whether they will be added and a timeline if known.

With respect to the data available, we currently supply: Company data including officer information, filing history and associated document images; insolvency information; charge information; and disqualified officer information.

We will shortly be adding further functionality related to overseas companies, improving our search functionality (including the ability to search dissolved companies and search by previous names) and a ‘follow’ facility to allow you to monitor companies and be notified of changes.

With respect to the specific questions you raised:

  1. We capture shareholder information and have had some initial discussions on potential options, however we are unlikely to progress these in the short to medium term as we have other priorities such as completion of the functionality detailed above and expansion of the filing functionality we offer.

  2. & 3. As touched on in point 1 above, we do intend to expand the API to include update functionality which will allow incorporation of companies and other filings such as the ones you have outlined.

In terms of timeline, we expect to complete the first tranche of search related functionality around the middle of the year and will then turn our attention to expanding the filing side of the service through into the following year.
