I’ve reached out to the “Companies team,” but they directed me to this forum. Is there a straightforward method to upload data directly from the archive provided by Companies House?
I’m attempting to do so but keep encountering an error related to the number of columns. I assumed this was a solvable issue, so I’ve tried various settings and delimiters, but I continue to receive the same “invalid number of columns” error. Because of this there was also a lot of values placed in a wrong columns leading to errors invalid date format etc.
Somebody who is creating data dumps should check if everything is ok.
Hi Frank,
What do you mean ?
I’m not intending to pay a penny for it
I will rather pull record by record directly from Companies House (I know, this is crazy as it is over 5million records)
Statbooks seems like a commercial service and I believe you do not share this database for free ?
Prove me wrong
Thanks for being honest.
Not sure tho what is the point of this forum if nobody is willing to help also, not sure why people who actually creating a data dump not checking if everything is ok and there will be no problem to re-import but … this is a separate subject.

This is a public forum… like much of the Internet it’s searchable and even comes with a search function. It has years of questions and many good answers to probably all current problems.
I think that may be the point?
Not sure what the point of your post is if you don’t properly explain what exactly the details of the problem you face are, but then when you get an offer of help anyway you complain you want it without a trace of strings attached
You might be able to get members of the public to help you for free to get access to free data (that you might them be able to sell) - clearly worth a try. In the mean time there’s the search plus an unofficial site by @eBrian that has documentation: Bulk Data products from Companies House | CH Guide
