# Rest Api Error 416

Hi everyone, so we are using the Companies House REST API to build a simple product and we’ve been having the error 416 issues.

If I were to query a keyword search for example “bidco” there are more than 5000 items to search and the search just don’t go beyond the 1000th item.

Simply put, I get error 416 at the 1000th item.

Could anyone let me know how we should proceed with this, and what steps we can take to solve this issue??

There are some limits to the total number of results from searches. Advanced search has a higher limit but there is still one.

Limits may have changed over time but see eg this thread:

I should say - apparently Companies House policy is that this API is for narrowly targeted searches.

If you need a wider range they have bulk data sets (intermittent updated) you can download them search yourself. Search for eg. “Companies House Bulk Data”.
