# Question regarding Corporate Annotations

Hi, we’ve been trying to find out more about Corporate Annotations and how they are applied.

My main question/concern is whether or not their application is automatic and absolute. That is to say can we reliably infer that a company does not meet certain conditions if the relevant annotation is not present.

For example, with regards to the new one:overseas-entity-dissolved-wound-up-or-ceased-to-exist

If an overseas entity does not have this annotation, can we definitively infer that it has not been wound up and still exists? Because if it had been it would always definitely have this annotation?

We’re not planning to use the current annotations in this way, but for completeness sake, and anticipating some annotations that are likely to be introduced in the near future it would be handy to know.

Ash, I have now spoken to the relevant service manager.

In terms of the output products (of which these are), we are relying on what the relevant operational teams at Companies House are adding to the register. In a nutshell therefore, annotations are added as and when Companies House becomes aware one of the criteria for adding an annotation is met.
