Hi All

I am a recent user of the API and I am hoping you can answer a couple of questions.

1. as we have a limitation to the api usage and my testing and prod is on the same ip routing would Companies house block my api requests as the ip will be same for different keys ?
2. how can i increase the rate limit of the api request?

Many thanks in advance

Rajveer

Non-Official, Non-CH answers (just another Dev) as official answers are a bit hard to come by at the moment. The following based on their policies in this area in the past, in some cases many years ago so subject to change!

1. There is an IP limit that will result in you being blocked. Never officially announced but it is over double the per key limit so Dev + Prod should be fine (source: [New IP Address Rate Limiting Query](https://forum.companieshouse.gov.uk/t/new-ip-address-rate-limiting-query/2518) )
2. In general you don’t. The API is not designed for broad use cases that regularly hit these limits. If you’re looking at this sort of uses you need to use the bulk data products. That said they can do a small increase (I think double) on request if you can justify it. As far as I’m aware that’s a hard limit though.

CH does have a documented rate limit on their API: [API Rate Limit](https://developer-specs.company-information.service.gov.uk/guides/rateLimiting)
